Limbo on the killing floor

Thanks to the good graces of good friends, I have two opportunities to catch up on my desperate financial situation.

Both involve DJing events.

My laptop died the weekend of the BBQ. The other laptop doesn't have nearly enough firepower to DJ off of reliably.

One of the gigs is a wedding, and I'm stressing over the music. I'm a bit behind the curve when I comes to contemporary alternative music. What do you mean, there's other types of alternative besides goth and industrial? :-P

The wedding crew won't care that I'm working off of a desktop PC. With the other gig, however, I'm amused by the fact that I'll have to roll in with a full-on desktop tower rig. Seriously, I'm chuckling to myself at the imagined visual as I type this.

I have 48 hours to index and review all the music I have that I haven't listened to, and try to track down the music I don't have, that I need. The appropriate parties with which I feel comfortable interacting with to achieve this have been contacted. It's just the stress of finally getting two gigs I really really wanted, and trying to make sure I can actually DO them....

Tuning out the bullshit and drama. Time to take care of myself for once.

EDIT: music drama for wedding averted...turns out what I thought was a request list was in fact an example of why they wanted me to DJ - to expand beyond their taste limits.
