I can tell that I'm gaining muscle mass to match the weight loss, and I'm not as bloaty as I was a month ago. So I got THAT going for me....

Come to GC this Monday, and bring people. I need the money.

Honestly though, money would be good. Windows To Sky will be playing a short set, and I would love to be able to give them some gas money or buy them a few drinks, since they agreed to play for free. Plus they're pretty good, so they deserve something.

Also, our Burning Man fund is dangerously low. I spend a shit-ton of energy throughout the year to help people, and I deserve a vacation. Heather too. We'll make it there, regardless of how Monday goes, but I'd like to be able to lighten the financial load. Schreeck could use a decent GC payday to help with his expenses as well.

So yeah. There ya go.

Mondays have been okay. I need them to go a little better though. I'm hoping that after our trip, I can implement the automated rig and increase the songs-per-evening rate. I don't plan on charging any more than I am now, but I really need to get the numbers up if there's going to be a GC next year. Four years is a mighty long time to go without a steady pay-off.

STRAYLIGHT is going well, thanks to those of you who come out and make it fun. We have an interesting mix of people, and there's a tremendous amount of room for expansion - I'm pretty sure I can get access to the other room rather easily. And that patio is begging for people to chill out and play cards or whatever on it. The WiFi is up and running strong now, and there's no cover. You should come check it out, if you haven't been yet. Doomie changes up the menu every week or two, so the food is good and interesting.

LOL, wasn't planning on this post being an upsell. Funny how things turn out.

I suspect the humidity to be the culprit. This weird wannabe storm thing is mucking up my night. I was enjoying the not-cold breeze this evening, wishing I could be asleep naked under the cloudy sky. But inside the Haus, it quickly became uncomfortably warm.

Accuweather says it's a comfortable 71 degrees, but the 80% humidity is screwing the whole thing up. That would explain why I'm still awake, despite running both the A/C and the box fan in the bedroom. I'm very sleepy, but I really need to be a little cold these days to get comfy. Perhaps dropping some more body fat will let me release heat a little better....

The last week or so has been just beating me about the head and neck. Mostly, it's been my "day job". The upside is, I got quite a few more hours in than I normally would. The pay is good, so I'll be able to catch up on my contribution to the Burning Man costs. But it's been a rough week, nonetheless.

There are a few things I wanted to do before BM'08, that will have to wait until I get back. jonelin and her hubby are going to try to set up karaoke on Monday on their own. I'll be there to supervise, but I want to see how it goes without me in the mix. I had hoped to have the new computerized system in place before I left. Unfortunately, incorporating it this close to departure will only add unneeded complication to the set-up process. I will continue to rip CDs, and I have a Windows box configured to handle the "laptop" song playback. Ground Control should be in standard operating mode, with the usual couple of unforeseen glitches to spice things up.

I haven't been able to plan or promote the Twilight Nation event. It's basically just a variant on the "gothic rave" scenario (I hate the term "gothic rave", but nothing else seems appropriate). I had a fun time doing that sort of thing, and want to do it again, so there ya go. I've enlisted the help of chainboy, and as such he will allow me to use the Cheshire Cat as a landmark for the event. I'll set up somewhere in the inner perimeter, at a random point between the Esplanade and The Man. I'm thinking of doing it on Tuesday night. We'll see. I was hoping jetkat would be able to co-DJ the event, but she may be busy with another project. Anyone else out there going to BM'08 who would want to DJ with me?

The Theory Radio Staff Playa-Party is a bust. I'll just try to get with the handful of us who are motivated and have free time to get together. Yoms, Frog, Dr. JetKat, myself, and maybe some of the others if we can find a good time that works - Booger X, Mermaid, Jovino, PQ... could be fun. We'll see.

chowyunsmut has graciously accepted my supplications, and will be compiling a list of songs I should have before my Battle Of The Softcore DJs. Dan (Club 4067) and I have decided to have an easy listening DJ battle at some point, probably in the inner perimeter, near Center Camp. Dan will be representing A.M. Gold, and thus I will be perpetrating the F.M. Lite. Time of impact TBD.

So, I have to learn how to use Nvu, and update the GC site. I need to build out the Twilight Nation site. And if I'm gonna do all that, I should updated the MP3J Sark site too. I haven't even started strategizing for the STRAYLIGHT site. :-/

There is something very satisfying and enriching about having a conversation with someone who can hold a conversation better than I can. It's even better when I can do so with someone who I don't share identical views with.

Too many people refuse to accept that they don't hold the only path to truth. Or that truth is usually subjective to their perspective and perceptions. Talking to people who agree with me is nice, but there isn't as much learning and growth to be had as when I can have a healthy discourse with someone who views life differently.

I think perhaps people have made themselves too fragile. Sometimes conversations get a little heated, by virtue of passion of subject. But that doesn't equate to hostile, and shouldn't discourage enjoyment of difference.

It's warm in the Haus. There's a nice breeze outside, but it only seems to like passing through the upstairs windows.

There's still a lot of prep to do. brokenheather did a bunch of bin sorting and packing before she headed out for the evening. She's gone until tomorrow. I have a list of things to accomplish while she's away, to relieve her of some of the prep strain.

I cleared out some boxes from the garage last night. I came across some old Dorobo CDs, which pleased me greatly. I'm listening to Black Lung's "Silent Weapons For Quiet Wars", one of my all-time favorite CDs. Gonna crank that up loud later....

I picked up my speakers from the club last night. I need to haul them up into the living room and plug them in to test them before we leave. Aside from my chores, I'll just be puttering around the Haus, trying to find some distraction.

What are YOU up to?

From what I'm reading, S. Ossentia seceded from Georgia a while back. Russia gave Ossentia inhabitants citizenship, or a bunch of Russians moved there, can't tell which. Now, Georgia sends troops in to retake the sovereign state, so Russia sends troops in to help the seperatist militiamen defend their sovereignty.

Then, Georgia starts crying about Russia being the aggressor, and that dumb cunt Condi siding with Georgia?!?

That's what I'm getting from this so far. Anyone got any close-hand insight on this?
