The last week or so has been just beating me about the head and neck. Mostly, it's been my "day job". The upside is, I got quite a few more hours in than I normally would. The pay is good, so I'll be able to catch up on my contribution to the Burning Man costs. But it's been a rough week, nonetheless.
There are a few things I wanted to do before BM'08, that will have to wait until I get back.
jonelin and her hubby are going to try to set up karaoke on Monday on their own. I'll be there to supervise, but I want to see how it goes without me in the mix. I had hoped to have the new computerized system in place before I left. Unfortunately, incorporating it this close to departure will only add unneeded complication to the set-up process. I will continue to rip CDs, and I have a Windows box configured to handle the "laptop" song playback. Ground Control should be in standard operating mode, with the usual couple of unforeseen glitches to spice things up.
I haven't been able to plan or promote the Twilight Nation event. It's basically just a variant on the "gothic rave" scenario (I hate the term "gothic rave", but nothing else seems appropriate). I had a fun time doing that sort of thing, and want to do it again, so there ya go. I've enlisted the help of
chainboy, and as such he will allow me to use the Cheshire Cat as a landmark for the event. I'll set up somewhere in the inner perimeter, at a random point between the Esplanade and The Man. I'm thinking of doing it on Tuesday night. We'll see. I was hoping
jetkat would be able to co-DJ the event, but she may be busy with another project. Anyone else out there going to BM'08 who would want to DJ with me?
The Theory Radio Staff Playa-Party is a bust. I'll just try to get with the handful of us who are motivated and have free time to get together. Yoms, Frog, Dr. JetKat, myself, and maybe some of the others if we can find a good time that works - Booger X, Mermaid, Jovino, PQ... could be fun. We'll see.
chowyunsmut has graciously accepted my supplications, and will be compiling a list of songs I should have before my Battle Of The Softcore DJs. Dan (Club 4067) and I have decided to have an easy listening DJ battle at some point, probably in the inner perimeter, near Center Camp. Dan will be representing A.M. Gold, and thus I will be perpetrating the F.M. Lite. Time of impact TBD.
So, I have to learn how to use Nvu, and update the GC site. I need to build out the Twilight Nation site. And if I'm gonna do all that, I should updated the MP3J Sark site too. I haven't even started strategizing for the STRAYLIGHT site. :-/
